Turn off your mind and set your soul free through the process of Spirit Led Painting and the power of sound. This very different kind of spiritual retreat experience promises to shut off your mind and open your heart and soul to the flow of spirit. Artist + Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Cheryl Sosnowski and Holistic Practitioner and sound healer, Kim Balzan are teaming up to bring you this one of a kind experience which promises to be absolutely magical.
Listen to the melodic and enchanting tones of Kim's bowls and learn some basics of sound healing.
Kim will be playing her gongs, bowls, chimes and other musical instruments throughout the day, and will intuitively attune to the individual energy needs of each participant and will come give you the specific vibration your body needs - all of this while you are painting.
At the close of the day, you can sign up for an optional Yoga Nidra session accompanied by a complete sound bath. Close your eyes and let the sounds take over you. This session will take place from 7:00 - 8:30.
This will be a perfect way to end this soul filling day. You can learn more about Kim here.
Art, like meditation, allows you to create space between thoughts and allows us to connect with our true selves – as opposed to with the fleeting/or false sense of identity we can get when we are caught up thoughts and emotions. Creating art is about reaching a state of flow consciousness and breaking free from the constant debilitating chatter of the mind.
Similarly to meditation, art can help us tap into a deeper and more quiet part of ourselves and we enter into a state of flow and present-moment awareness. In this space, there can be a sense of having no physical parameters; no body, or form to separate one from the other. You step out of your body, out of your mind, and time passes in the blink of an eye.
You follow where the painting wants to lead you, and at the end, there are symbols and messages for you that come from the part of YOU that is connected to source. Your painting is a map to the interior place where the perfect seed of intention and potential lies in you. Just as an acorn intends to be an oak tree, and the bud intends to blossom, there is a perfect seed of intention in the you that is you.
You do not need to be an artist to participate! You don't need any artistic experience at all! This is a very loving and gentle process which will free you from the fear of painting. Your painting and drawing is as unique to you as your fingerprints.
The Schedule & Location
The retreat will take place at The Franciscan Renewal Center, a lovely refuge right in Scottsdale. The grounds are quiet, with accommodations, a meditation walking garden, and lots of peaceful nooks and crannies to hide away for some quiet reflection time. We have reserved the Father Owen room, the largest of the meeting spaces for our retreat to give us lots of space to move around in, and to offer privacy to the individual at the retreat.
